Nursery & Toddler
Childcare is provided for babies and toddlers during our Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m.
We ensure that all adult leaders have their Police Clearance. Each teen working in this area has been trained by St. John Ambulance and has received their Babysitting and Church Nursery Training.
We are located off the east corridor of the church building (to the left as you enter the church through the main doors). We are right across from the women’s washroom.
We are open on Sunday mornings from 10:15 a.m. until the end of the church service.
When you arrive you will notice that our department is divided into three specific rooms – Infants, Toddlers and Preschool.
Upon your arrival to the Nursery Department one of our dedicated volunteers will assist you in signing your child into one of our rooms, taking down any specific instructions you may have, and providing you with a number that will be used to page you from the sanctuary should your child require you during the service. This is done to ensure that your little one receives the most age appropriate care possible.
Infant Room (Birth — walking)
Toys and equipment specific to the needs of children from birth through the creeping and crawling stages are in ample supply.
We maintain a 1:2 ratio policy in this room with two volunteers available at all times. Due to the tender age of these little ones our teen volunteers do not serve in this room.
Toddler Room (Walkers up to 2 years old)
Once your child begins to walk and requires more physical activity, it will be time to move into the Toddler Room. This will allow your little one to engage in a more active and lively environment.
Monthly themes are presented in this room along with finger plays, songs and guided conversation related to the monthly topic. These activities are not structured and are used as time and interest allow. For your benefit monthly Parent Pages are provided for you to review and use at home as well.
Preschool Room (2 – 4 years old)
Our preschool program is structured to meet the needs of children between the ages of 2 and 4 years old.
We strive to teach about the love of Jesus at their level of understanding. We strive to keep the same routine each Sunday to provide a sense of security and familiarity with us. While a simple Bible lesson is taught each week, time is also provided for play and the development of friendships.
Qualified Workers
All BCC’s Childcare and Children’s Workers are screened through an application process which includes:
- A Criminal Background Check for all volunteers over 18 years of age.
- All youth workers must be over the age of 12 and have gone through a Certified Babysitters Course.
- Ongoing training
- Many are certified in Emergency First Aid as well as Infant and Child CPR.
